Thackeray launches £100m green development drive

Developer Thackeray Group has earmarked £100m for acquisitions to “turbocharge” its development pipeline, with a focus on sustainability and occupier wellness.

Chief executive Antony Alberti said: “We currently have exciting schemes in Cardiff city centre, Manchester city centre, Reading, the City of London, and Hammersmith, and we are eager for more opportunities.”

The news comes as Thackeray opens its New Timber Yard office and workspace hub in Hammersmith, west London, which the developer hopes will set the tone for future acquisitions.

The site provides 30,000 sq ft of grade-A office space and is located at a historic timber plot that once supplied wood to the local neighbourhood.

Designed by Frost Architects and Jo Cowen Architects, the scheme is rated BREEAM Excellent and EPC A.

Green credentials include PV panels, smart controls, high performance LED, and green roofs with wildflower and sedum mix for biodiversity. Energy saving elements result in a 70% reduction in annual running costs compared to a typical new commercial building.

Wellness features include an on-site gym, showers, event spaces, and a landscaped courtyard with a BBQ, pizza oven, ice baths, and an added bike storage facility with dedicated drying room.

Frost Meadowcroft and CBRE are the leasing agents.
